The Admin Browser Agent (ABA) is a secure local module that facilitates printer management for Celiveo 365. It handles printer discovery, configuration, and the deployment of embedded agents on networks accessible to the administrator’s workstation.

The ABA utilizes Zero Trust access via certificate-based mutual TLS (mTLS) connections to the Cloud. Upon login, the Web Admin portal validates the presence of the ABA and prompts for installation if it is not detected.

Admin Browser Agent Setup

To install the ABA, perform the following steps in the Web Admin portal:

  1. Specify the Workstation Hostname – The Web Admin generates an installation package containing a Zero Trust certificate specifically bound to the workstation hostname provided.
  • Enter the hostname of the workstation where the ABA will be installed.
  • Click Next.
p(banner tip). Deployment Scope: The generated package is valid only for the designated workstation. To deploy the ABA on additional workstations, repeat this process for each target hostname. This action must be performed on a workstation that does not currently have the ABA installed.

  • Copy the Password: The certificate password is displayed in the popup. Copy this password to a secure location immediately. Note: This password will be required during the ABA installation.
  • Download: Click Download to save the installer.

Managing Existing ABA Installations

If you request an ABA for a workstation hostname that already has an agent generated, the system presents options to either re-download the existing package or generate a new one.

Re-downloading an Existing Package

If the ABA was previously generated but not installed (or if the installer was lost), you can re-download the original package.

  • Enable the option Use the previously generated Admin Browser Agent Installation Certificate…
  • Click Download.

Revoking and Regenerating (Lost Password)

If the certificate password is lost, or if the workstation security has been compromised, you must generate a new certificate. This action revokes the previous certificate chain.

  • Disable the option to use the previously generated certificate by toggling the Revoke option. The system displays: Attention: This will revoke previous installed Admin Browser Agent…
  • Copy the new password to a safe location.
  • Click Download.

Updating the ABA

The ABA is updated regularly to support new printers and enhance capabilities. It is critical to maintain the current version.

Automatic Update Check
When the ABA service starts, it automatically validates its version against the Celiveo 365 cloud services. If a newer version is available, the following prompt appears:

  • Click Download and install now.

Manual Update Check
You can manually verify the ABA version via the agent menu:

  1. Open the Celiveo Browser Agent menu.
  2. Select Check for updates.

Operational Notes for High-End Security Environments

  • ABA Post-Sync Uninstall: In highly restricted environments, the ABA can be uninstalled after the printer import and synchronization processes are complete. This will not affect the Web Admin or previously synced printers.
  • Certificate Revocation: If a new ABA is generated (due to a forgotten password), the previously installed ABA will immediately cease functioning because its certificate effectively becomes revoked in the Cloud.
